Sandcastle Demo play
SandCastle is a true "sandbox" game where you build sandcastles however you like and decorate the beach however you want on the map. The demo launched on August 6, 2026. It's available for free on Steam. (Link)
Earning a starfish
Certain actions reward you with starfish (instead of stars). Collect enough of them and you can unlock a wider variety of maps. — different beach types, different sand colors, and more. Worth noting — sandcastles crumble over time even if they never touch the water. No sandcastle lasts forever.
Collecting items on the beach
You can click on items buried in or drifting around the beach and sea — starfish, seashells, driftwood, glass bottles, and more — to collect them and unlock new items for decorating the beach. Sometimes you just use the collected items as-is. Glass bottles are especially important since they unlock decorating tools. Though the first playthrough almost feels a little too generous with them?
Triggering a wave to wipe it out
The wave icon in the bottom right lets you trigger a "collapse" whenever you want. Right now the waves just roll in like a plain simulation — I'd love to see more destructive options too, like a tsunami or a big foamy wave.
Adjusting the camera (almost) freely
You can freely adjust the camera angle, though you can't look from land toward the sea. That's a bit of a letdown, since it keeps you from really feeling like a tiny resident living among the sandcastles.
Since this is still just a demo, that's about all there is to show for now.
